the grass so green,
the sun so bright,
life seems a dream,
no worries in sight

tans and tank tops,
laughter and bliss,
each moment passes,
without even a miss

friends and cookouts,
memories and laughs,
good times to remember,
but how long will it last

the grass soon fades,
leaves begin to fall,
school replaces sleepovers,
oh I’ll miss it all

On Tuesday was my first official day back in Texas!!! And it was amazing, I got to see two of my closest friends— and they’re beyond amazing! While I was in Vietnam, I did a “bit” of online shopping so all the style pieces in this “Summer Day Lookbook” will be from my shopping haul! The day included a swim at the pool and a little cute walk in the park! Please enjoy and share your love in the likes!! πŸ’—

β€œRejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

I looked up this Bible verse because I personally neededΒ a BIG WAKE-UP CALL. It all started with how a conversation with one of my friends turned into a “complaining fest”- I felt miserable at the time and just spewed all of my unimportant annoyances and petty anger. After, I took a step back and was like “No, nope. I have nothing worth complaining about because there are other people suffering much worse without blessings I’m fortunate to have”. Instead of wasting my breath being ungrateful for what Christ has given me, I decided that I’m going to use my voice to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks..”Β

So I hopped on my laptop, scouring the internet for the perfect bible verse that described my new goal to achieve!!

I believe what God commanded through Paul’s writing in the first book of Thessalonians, is difficult to achieve but an important goal to strive for in our lives. He says:

it’s the start of July!!! which means a whole 31 days to refocus, have fun, and do the things that you couldn’t do in June! πŸ˜‹

first, set your goals for the month of July!! list them out and put them where you can refer back to them! the goals don’t need to be elaborate– something simple and easy to attain. example- one of my goals for July was to wake up earlier and sleep earlier! (It’ll give you much more needed energy & lead to a better lifestyle!)

secondly, as each day passes make sure you are diligent in working to complete your goals!

third, keep motivated!! this is so important because it’ll keep you going during the month. I like to refer to Pinterest quotes and read other people’s blog- it helps a ton to hear other people’s wisdom. do everything with purpose! think of why you set that goal and the good it’ll do for you at the end of the month!!!

good luck!!! & here are my big monthly goals for July! :

1. Commit to blogging!

blogging is something I just discovered and I now love expressing myself through writing! I am aiming to generate more consistent and interesting content starting this month! πŸ‘

2. Organize my life!

whether it means my closet, blog, social media, or room! I’m super MESSY & CHAOTIC! so this month, I’d like to get a handle on things so by the time school starts, i’ll be prepared! Organization is extremely important, it helps keep life easier by providing clean and a no-clutter slate! πŸ’—

3. Strengthen relationships!

friends & family are suppose to be a huge part of your summer because it is a chance to get to know them better while school is out! unfortunately for more than a month, I’ve been away from my friends and parents and will only have a month of summer with them. so, I am so excited to spend time with the people I love and strengthen my relationships! positive strong relationships with people are very important to a happy life because you’ll always have someone to talk to, trust, love, and have fun with!! πŸ˜„

Let me know what your monthly goals are!! & HAPPPY JULY!!! – KATIE

keep happy and smiling!

here’s a snippet of my travel journal that i wrote while in Europe!!!

One of the best three days of my life was during Spring Break of 2017. I had the great opportunity to go to Germany with my family to experience the beautiful European lifestyle and to reunite with the German side of my family. After my brief time in Germany, my cousins took us on a spontaneous road trip to Oberau, Austria where we skied in the Alps.

On the first day, my family got settled into a quaint cottage that we shared with a native family. Everything so far was amazing, except for the fact that I had to wake up at 6 am every day. I later realized it was all worth it because it gave me a chance to watch the sunrise and prepare for a long day ahead. It reminded me of what my grandma always says, “Morgenstern hat Gold im Mund” or “The morning hour has gold in its mouth.” It’s a German proverb that interprets to the saying, “The early bird catches the worm” and that an early start to a day will end in a good day.

thumbs up to a good day!

After a quick set up with ski rentals, it was off up to the mountain my family went. I was overwhelmed with amazement with the enormous volume of snow! It was so cool (no pun intended), especially since I live in sweltering hot Texas. I never thought I’d be the person to be rushing down a snow hill on a pair of metal boards, or frankly- be adventurous but I learned you’ll regret it if you don’t take opportunities life gives you.

We arrived at the top of the mountain and met our ski instructor and began to learn. It was no easy feat and by the end of the day, I had managed to fall at least fifty times. I now see that even though I wasn’t a professional yet, it was just important that I got up on my feet again every time I fell.Β

The next two days, I got more skilled and began to have lots of fun. I started falling less and could even ski down steeper slopes. At times, I got lazy and opted for playing on my phone instead of skiing. That’s when I learned another German saying, told to me by my instructor, “Anfangen ist leicht, Beharren eine Kunst” (Starting is easy, persistence is an art). I understood and soon hit the slopes again, eager to get better and enjoy my time in Austria.

The day I left to go back home was one of the saddest days I’ve had. I said goodbye to the majestic Alps, hugged my cousins farewell, and left with a new mindset to life.

In a way, I learned to be adventurous and realized there’s a whole wide world to see, so embrace and experience all opportunities given to you. You only live once, live life to the fullest!Β
