“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

I looked up this Bible verse because I personally needed a BIG WAKE-UP CALL. It all started with how a conversation with one of my friends turned into a “complaining fest”- I felt miserable at the time and just spewed all of my unimportant annoyances and petty anger. After, I took a step back and was like “No, nope. I have nothing worth complaining about because there are other people suffering much worse without blessings I’m fortunate to have”. Instead of wasting my breath being ungrateful for what Christ has given me, I decided that I’m going to use my voice to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks..”

So I hopped on my laptop, scouring the internet for the perfect bible verse that described my new goal to achieve!!

I believe what God commanded through Paul’s writing in the first book of Thessalonians, is difficult to achieve but an important goal to strive for in our lives. He says:

TRAVEL JOURNAL: AUSTRIA

here’s a snippet of my travel journal that i wrote while in Europe!!!

One of the best three days of my life was during Spring Break of 2017. I had the great opportunity to go to Germany with my family to experience the beautiful European lifestyle and to reunite with the German side of my family. After my brief time in Germany, my cousins took us on a spontaneous road trip to Oberau, Austria where we skied in the Alps.

On the first day, my family got settled into a quaint cottage that we shared with a native family. Everything so far was amazing, except for the fact that I had to wake up at 6 am every day. I later realized it was all worth it because it gave me a chance to watch the sunrise and prepare for a long day ahead. It reminded me of what my grandma always says, “Morgenstern hat Gold im Mund” or “The morning hour has gold in its mouth.” It’s a German proverb that interprets to the saying, “The early bird catches the worm” and that an early start to a day will end in a good day.

thumbs up to a good day!

After a quick set up with ski rentals, it was off up to the mountain my family went. I was overwhelmed with amazement with the enormous volume of snow! It was so cool (no pun intended), especially since I live in sweltering hot Texas. I never thought I’d be the person to be rushing down a snow hill on a pair of metal boards, or frankly- be adventurous but I learned you’ll regret it if you don’t take opportunities life gives you.

We arrived at the top of the mountain and met our ski instructor and began to learn. It was no easy feat and by the end of the day, I had managed to fall at least fifty times. I now see that even though I wasn’t a professional yet, it was just important that I got up on my feet again every time I fell.

The next two days, I got more skilled and began to have lots of fun. I started falling less and could even ski down steeper slopes. At times, I got lazy and opted for playing on my phone instead of skiing. That’s when I learned another German saying, told to me by my instructor, “Anfangen ist leicht, Beharren eine Kunst” (Starting is easy, persistence is an art). I understood and soon hit the slopes again, eager to get better and enjoy my time in Austria.

The day I left to go back home was one of the saddest days I’ve had. I said goodbye to the majestic Alps, hugged my cousins farewell, and left with a new mindset to life.

In a way, I learned to be adventurous and realized there’s a whole wide world to see, so embrace and experience all opportunities given to you. You only live once, live life to the fullest!

  1. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

let’s be real here, God gave the world life, He gave us the breath of life and an eternal soul.. none of us would be alive w/out our beloved Lord and Savior!

see God in the little things

2. FAMILY!!!!!

my FAMily is like fudge, a little sweet but can def be NUTS but i still love them unconditionally!

i believe families come in all shapes and sizes, it doesn’t matter if they’re your blood relatives or not because a family bond is so much more loving and strong then a physical tie.

3. FRIIIEEENNNNDSSSS!!!!!!

everyone has a friend whether they realize it or not, your family can be your friend, i’d even say that God is the ultimate bff, and even your dog or lizard can be your friend.

i absolutely love this acrostic from Pinterest. it says:

Fight for you

Respect you

Include you

Encourage you

Need you

Deserve you

Stand by you

and nooooow..onto a less serious note

3. FOod foooooddd

theres nothing better to have when you’re down or if youre partying, FOOD is always the perfect solution. some of my favorite delicious foods I LOve are steak, pasta (especially some good lobster mac and cheese 😍), mangos, pineapples, raspberries, pho, banh mi, froot loops, tacos, mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone(!!!!), brie cheese, Belgian waffles, Nutella strawberry crepes, Thai coconut soup, spring rolls, pomegranates, bacon, fried rice, popcorn, cotton candy, and everything else that exists!!!

fun kinda grossss fact: when i was in vancouver, canada, i ate moose heart tartar which is raw chopped up moose heart topped with a raw egg. not exactly delicious but really cool! :/

4. clothes & fashion!!!

i’m farrrrr from what a fashionista is, but i DEFFFF love shopping and attempting to follow trends! also finding bargain dealss ahhhhh!!!

LOVE OFF-THE-SHOULDER CLOTHING, SNEAKERS, CHOKERS, AND SWIMMIES!

5. MOVIESS & BOOKSS!

this means Barnes & Noble and my local public library are my favorite places ever!! i mean, come on, who doesn’t like free stuff which the library embodies and barnes and noble is amazing if you just want to roam the numerous aisles and sit down at their Starbucks cafe inside.

my favorite movie is Jurassic Park, hands down, one of the most well-made movies ever. thanks, Spielberg

my favorite book is The Little Women, it’s a 800ish page book that makes you cry and laugh at the same time- an amazing classic!!!

6. TRAVEL

“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.”- Anita Desai

Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert

how true these quotes are, i consider traveling one of luxuries i am blessed with and it’s not because of the resorts or all the things you can buy there. it’s about learning, EMBRACING, and experiencing LIFE! its amazing and so cool to see how a different country functions and their unique culture. it gives you perspective and a sense of gratefulness for such a great God that has made all these wonderful people of the world.

7. dreams, hopes, aspirations!

as far as i can remember, my mind has always been set on my dreams and what i want for my future. when i was four, i wanted to be an artist. when i was nine, i wanted to be a lawyer (inspired by yours truly, Legally Blonde), and now i know that there are so many possibilities in life i can achieve!!!

i believe you can reach anything you set your mind to and especially love this (overused but so true) quote:

“Reach for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.”

having a goal in life, helps me move in the right direction and make the positive decisions so that i’m ensured a rewarding and joyful future!!! ♥♥♥♥♥
